Anna (Kripas) Rutkauskas, 97, of New Britain, entered into eternal life on Mon, Nov 9th at Walnut Hill Care Center surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late Anthony A. Rutkauskas (who died in 1969). Anna was born Aug 2, 1912 in East Granby. She was the daughter of the late Moteis and Morta (Plunge) Kripas.
Upon graduating from Bloomfield High School, she worked at Aetna. After her husband’s death, she guided her family for the next forty years providing the sunshine in their lives. She also worked as a clerk for the Public Works Dept for the City of New Britain retiring at the age of 71. She was a member of St. Andrew Church and belonged to the Rosary Society. Anna was a member of the New Britain Council of Catholic Women and Council 50-Knights of Lithuania. She was a past delegate for 15 years at Newbracc. She enjoyed traveling, bingo, and solving crossword puzzles. She loved her family with all of her heart and was the best grandma ever.
She leaves her daughter Elizabeth (Betty) of New Britain; her son Anthony (Tony) of Meriden and his wife Deborah (Mele); and her pride and joy (her grandchildren) Scott of New Britain and Sandy Kelsey and her husband Chris of Woodbury. Anna is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Anna was predeceased by her six brothers: Matthew and the Rev John Kripas; Anthony, Joseph, William, Archie Krips and one sister Elizabeth (who died in childbirth).
Special thanks are extended to the caring staff at Walnut Hill Care Center and the local hospice group.
Funeral Services will be Sat (Nov 14) at 9:15am at Venskunas Funeral Home, 670 Stanley St, New Britain, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 am at St. Andrew Church, 396 Church St, New Britain. The burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours will be from 4-8pm on Friday evening at the funeral home.
